Anti Aging Skin Care Products: The Best Source

The best source of anti aging skin care products is  not high end department stores.  Neither is it the corner drug store or over the counter.  Where is the best source?  Keep reading to find out and also why some skin care products range from cheap to expensive.

The question is: Why do so many companies manufacture a skin care product that does a poor job, if it works at all?  Why do so many women keep switching anti aging skin care products?

Big Department Store Hype

We often pay too much for inferior products just because it has a popular name on it.  Often we find skin care sections right at the main entrance of large stores offering free makeovers.  Actually they should be called ‘do overs’.  Because you have to do it over at home.  And the cost sends quivers through your credit card.

Why it the Cost So High?

The cost of running a store, big or small, eats up a lot of profit.  To stay in business a company must make a profit.  Store overhead and advertising often dictates the price of a product.

A few companies turn out fairly good products but must charge a very large price to do it.  The reason is, as mentioned, advertising, employee costs, taxes, etc. etc.  If a company tries to offer a decent price, they may get a lot of sales but often pull the product.  Or raise the price so high that sales drop off dramatically.  The cost of ingredients and the cost of overhead determine the price tag.

Skin Care Information– Breaking the Skin Down to Understand Good Skin Care

Posted on December 30, 2011
Filed Under Articles | Leave a Comment

Many articles with skin care information tell you what steps to take in giving your skin the right treatment. Most do not tell you why. This one will. Facial skin is delicate and requires different treatment than the rest of the body. The skin around the eyes is even more delicate and requires special treatment options. This article looks at why this is the case and what you can do to get the best treatment for your personal skin. Good skin care info begins with understanding the skin. The skin covers the entire human body. It guards the underlying tissues. It takes the brunt of the elements in order to protect what lies beneath.

To understand skin care information, you need to understand the skin of the face. On the face, the skin lies over a thin layer of muscle and connective tissue that cover the skull. The thinness of this layer causes the face to show signs of aging and elements worse than other parts of the body. Another bit of skin care info, the skin around the eyes is the thinnest layer of skin on the outside of the body. It shows wear and tear even worse than the skin on the rest of the face. In order to protect the skin around the face, it is crucial to keep this skin clean.

Another piece of skin care information you need to know is that the outer layer of the skin is the epidermis. This layer of skin has special cells that prevent water penetration and protects the body from chemicals and pathogens. These cells regenerate about every 27 days. The uppermost layer of the epidermis has dead cells in it. In order to expose the younger, fresh layers beneath exfoliation needs to be a priority.  Good skin care info requires you to understand this layer of the skin.

A critical bit of skin care info, the next layer of skin under the epidermis is the dermis. This is the layer of skin containing elastin and collagen. These two substances play a major factor in keeping skin young, wrinkle free, and firm. Elastin helps give the skin the ability to spring back into shape after it moves. Collagen helps retain firmness under the skin. When you age, both substances go down substantially. A good skin care product will help restore these elements in the dermis layer. Skin care information requires an understanding of this layer.

Skin Care – Going Back-to-Basics

What We Are Told

Almost daily we are bombarded with a new skin care product and are told that if we use this product, our skin will look younger, smoother, more attractive and so on. We are presented with pictures of young, attractive women who have probably never used the products their faces are associated with and probably never will.

We are lead to believe that ‘the active ingredient’ in these products are a new discovery (usually they also get some sort of pseuo-scientific name) and if we use the product that has this ‘magical’ ingredient we will end up with 20 year young skin – Sure !

The Truth About Skin Care

Skin care is just that – taking care of one’s skin, nothing more, nothing less. How you do this can depend on many things. The health of your skin, money, time, knowledge and probably a number of other factors will determine how much care you give to your skin.

Let’s review what your skin does for a moment. Firstly, it protects the inside of you body from the outside. That is, the skin forms a barrier between our external environment and our body’s insides. It is water proof and at the same time acts as a defence from pollution, microbes and other potentially harmful factors. In addition, it is partly responsible for eliminating toxins from our body in the form of perspiration, and your skin assists the body in temperature regulation. These and other functions are preformed by our skin on a continuous basis.

So how do we take care of our skin, to ensure that it can continue to perform at its optimal level?

Back-to-Basics of Skin Care

There are 3 basic principles that come together in good skin care.

Drinking enough water on a daily basis to keep the skin well hydrated. This involves drinking at least 2 litres of water each and every day, because the body’s metabolism will require this amount of water to function properly. More water is required if we engage in strenuous physical activity or work in a physically demanding environment. You can use the most expensive moisturisers you like, if you don’t drink enough water, your skin will become dehydrated and no moisturiser or beauty treatment will stop this in the long term.

Eating good quality, unprocessed foods such as fruits, grains, vegetables, some dairy and lean meat, will help you to provide the skin with the nutrients it requires to keep performing its vital functions. Your skin needs vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino acids, etc., to function properly and while some natural skin care products do provide many of these nutrients, there is no substitute for nutrients gained from high quality food.

A daily skin care regime that will unclog pores, remove dirt and dead skin cells, as well as provide nourishment to the underlying, living skin cells, is an essential step to good skin care. Now this regime can be quite simple or more involved.

Skincare Cosmetics – 3 Things That Make A Skin Cream Worth Buying

I think it’s the nature of every skincare cosmetics consumer to wonder if there’s a better product out there. We truly are a fickle bunch of consumers. This month you use this skin cream, but next month, it’s a different one. I can’t fault you though; there are so many aging skincare products on the shelf. And a lot of them simply don’t work. But, let’s face it, with each disappointing skin cream, you become a little more lost in how to fight the slow creep of skin aging.

Don’t give up!

Finding effective aging skincare products is a frustrating, costly process, but you can remove a lot of that frustration. By putting each new product you come across through a pre-purchase test, you can weed out all the poor and mediocre skincare cosmetics. You may already do something like this, if so, that’s excellent. Let’s build on it. However, if doing this is new to you, that’s okay too; you will gain a lot of confidence in your purchases once this becomes a habit.

So what is this pre-purchase test?

As a skincare consumer, my approach to buying products has evolved a great deal. When I was younger, I would buy skin creams based on little more than a brand name or a friend’s advice. Luckily, skin looks naturally good when you’re young, because I bought some absolute garbage products. But, as I got older, I started to learn about skin aging and my approach to skincare cosmetics became much more scientific (as you’ll see).

Pregnancy Skin Care – How To Care For Potential Skin Problems

Pregnancy is an important phase of womanhood. It is a time of excitement and change. However, while some women experience the ‘pregnancy glow’, others have to deal with skin problems like acne melasma and stretch marks.

Here are some skin care tips that will help you understand the skin problems that you may experience during pregnancy and help you deal with them.

Acne Inflammations & Breakouts

During pregnancy, the body produces high levels of progesterone, a female hormone. As a result, the skin becomes prone to acne inflammations and breakouts. This is even more likely if you have a tendency to break out during your monthly cycle. Acne is typically worst during the first trimester of pregnancy. This is because the progesterone levels are very high during this time. However, once you give birth, the acne problem goes away..

Solution: The first and foremost step towards reducing acne is keeping your skin clean. Cleanse your skin at least two times a day – once in the morning and once at night. Avoid using cleansers that contain strong ingredients like salicylic acid. Though they are powerful anti-acneic ingredients, they are not recommended during pregnancy.

Try using Kinerase Gentle Daily Cleanser. It is great for all skin types, even very sensitive skin! It a a gentle foaming cleanser with green tea extract to soothe the skin. It cleans the skin without ripping away essential nutrients.

Problem: Dry Skin

Because your body is continuously stretching during pregnancy, your skin tends to expand beyond its normal capacity. As a result, the skin becomes dry and itchy, especially around your belly. Moreover, hormonal;fluctuations within the body also result in loss of natural oils and skin elasticity.
